Biometric Secure Access Control & Attendance System

The ACTAtek™ platform uses latest proprietary 500 dpi Optical Scanning Technology, taking advantage of next-generation recognition algorithms that raise the bar on accuracy and set us a step above standard fingerprint technologies available today.

A basic advantage of using biometric fingerprint technology over other traditional security systems, such as swipe cards or PIN, is that a fingerprint cannot be lost or even stolen. All images are converted to encrypted binary data as soon as a user is registered into the system.

ACTAtek™ supports 500 users in its business model, and upto 3,000 users in its Corporate model, all user information, including fingerprint data is stored in the database built-in to the system

There are 3 access methods, ID + Fingerprint, ID + Password & Fingerprint Only, also known as Automatch. This gives an option of which access methods to use during authentication, a significant plus considering some people may have damaged or difficult to read fingerprint minutiae data. Moreover, all fingerprint information captured by the units is encrypted to prevent any unlawful data theft.

In additional to the unbeatable fingerprint technology, to add the security feature of this system, there is an optional built-in CMOS camera installed above the LCD screen. This takes a snapshot for every successful or rejected attempt and stores it within its database, as it does with other time-stamp information. This allows you to know who the rejected user was, whether it was an employee trying to gain scrumptious entry, or whether it was an intruder.

All event records can be viewed via the web interface from anywhere at anytime through any Operating System using a standard web browser!

Good Vs Bad captured Fingerprint Image

A good fingerprint image is one in which the core of the fingerprint is well-defined and easily recognizable. The core of a finger is defined as the “point located within the inner most recurving ridge”. It is normally located in the MIDDLE of the fingerprint. It is therefore critical when enrolling that you place the finger on the scanner where the entire core can clearly be seen.

Bad Image: An image where the crackles & displacement of the fingerprint core decries it unrecognizable.

Combination Access Control & Attendance System

The ACTAtek™ platform uses latest proprietary 500 dpi Optical Scanner technology as itd built-in biometric fingerprint technology. With the combination model, it also supports Mifare Contactless Card Technology, ISO Standard 14443A, as its primary smart card reader / writer module, which is also built-in to the system. In addition, ACTAtek™ supports Legic, contract smart card, HID proximity & I-Class card technologies, as well as, EM & Barcode technologies.

The benefits of using the combination ACTAtek™, as opposed to existing card only or fingerprint only systems, are manifold. For one, 5 different authentication methods can be used for allocation access to different departments. These methods include Fingerprint only, Smart card only, Fingerprint + Smart card, and ID + PIN. This gives you an option of which access method to grant your employees, based on either time of day, traffic, or employee work schedule.

In addition, ALL entries are logged by the system, which can hold up to 10,000 records. They can then be viewed via the web interface of the system, or the records can be automatically downloaded to an ODBC / JDBC database with our PC interface, ACTAtek™ Server.

To enhance security and let the user be in charge of their information, the fingerprint data can be stored directly on the user’s smart card. With this configuration, no fingerprint information will be stored on the unit. This can be leviate apprehension for using a fingerprint system in the workplace. It has to be emphasized that NO fingerprint information captured by the system is stored as an image, all the data is stored as an encrypted binary algorithm, which is used solely for matching purposes.

Moreover, with a built-in CMOS camera (above the LCD screen), a snapshot of all attempts, including rejected attempts are stored within the database. So, even if the smart card or PIN only authentication methods are used, a snapshot can be taken for each attempt, putting a face to the record corresponding to that punch. These records can then be viewed via the web interface or downloaded directly to an ODBC or JDBC database using the ACTAtek™ Server.

The ACTAtek™ now has a newer , more cost-effective model on a highly secure platform that uses PIN as its only authentication token. This comes together with a built-in CMOS camera that takes a snapshot of every successful or rejected attempt. This comes in the 500 user (ACTA-BIZ-CK) and the 3,000 user (ACTA-CORP-CK) models.

The benefits of using ACTAtek™, as opposed to existing PIN systems, include higher level of security with the built-in CMOS camera, web based access, TCP/IP support for multi-unit network within an office / building scenario, etc. ACTAtek™ can control access via the web, fraudulent entry can be avoided after office hours when ALL accesses to the premises is denied. Moreover, with a built-in CMOS camera (above the LCD screen), a snapshot of all attempts, including rejected attempts are stored within the database.

With the built-in SSL-encrypted web server, the ACTAtek allows you to configure, administer, and control access via any standard web browser. You can add users, delete users, control their access schedule, as well as, view their event log, all online from anywhere, at anytime.

The ACTAtek™ platform uses Mifare Contactless Card Technology, ISO Standard 14443A, as its primary smart card reader / writer module, which is built-in to the system. Both the 1K and 4K encrypted card technologies are supported by the system. The 2 availbale models include ACTA-BIZ-SC (supports 500 users) and ACTA-CORP-SC (supports 3,000 users).

Hectrix's ACTAtek™ supports a wide range of card technologies, which include Mifare, Legic, contact smart card, HID proximity & i-class , as well as, EM & Barcode technologies. This gives the consumer the option to choose the card technology they want - without limiting them to any one platform.

T add to that, Hectrix has most recently devised a simple external mifare reader, also known as a "dummy reader". The external reader has no software built-in to it, and all it does is either accept or reject entry. The external reader can either be used at multi-door deployments, where security should be present but you do not need a full ACTAtek unit at all locations, especially if they are networked anyway. Or, if you wish to log both IN & OUT entries and need 2 units installed in front of and behind doors for attendance or payroll purposes. This method reduces cost ad yet provides you with needed security and accountability for all personnels.
